Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake Strikes Virginia
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake occured on August 23, 2011 at 1:51 pm Eastern time. The epicenter was in Louisa County Virginia and caused noticeable shaking all along the East coast including Washington D.C., New York, and Boston. M. Eatherton was part of the EERI reconnaissance team that went to the epicentral region. Stay tuned for coming reconnaissance reports.
