C-Tech^2 Summer Camp

Share |

Our group contributed an activity to the C-Tech^2 Summer Camp at Virginia Tech.  The activity was entitled “Learning How to Design Earthquake Resistent Buildings”.  Students got to express their creativity in designing scale model buildings while learning about the properties of structures, such as mass, stiffness, and natural frequency, that affect how the building responsds to ground motions.  One of the goals of the C-Tech^2 Summer Camp is to develop and sustain the interests of women in engineering and science.  It was great to have two of the women from our group, Manasa Koppal and Abhilasha Maurya, help with this activity as strong examples of successful women in engineering.  Thanks for your help!
